Kennebunk Plains...and a Lifer!

I drove down to Kennebunk Plains very early this morning to get three birds, and all three were had!  It was our first taste of summer weather, and wonderful to be walking about in short sleeves an hour after sunrise.  Field Sparrows were everywhere.

After finding both sparrows, I walked on for a while more and was almost resigned to leaving without the greater prize, when something scurrying away through the grass caught my eye; Upland Sandpiper!  These are quite rare (I'd never seen one before), so having secured a photo good enough for ID purposes, I left this guy alone.

Eastern Towhee (so hard to get these out of cover)

This could have been an epic shot, but I didn't realize how high the ISO was from the distant background until it was too late.  Live and learn.
